Our Purpose & Impact
The Innovation in Politics Awards (IPA) established in 2017 by The Innovation in Politics Institute (IPI), are now presented by the European Capital of Democracy (ECoD) NPO and the Awards Finals are an official part of the ECoD Democracy Year.
This integration brings the annual Awards Finals to the designated European Capital of Democracy each year, aligning with the broader mission of fostering democratic values across Europe.
While now part of ECoD, IPA continues to maintain strong connections with the Innovation in Politics Institute, the founding organisation behind both initiatives. The partnership ensures that the Awards remain closely aligned with IPI’s mission of advancing political innovation. Moreover, IPA’s Best Practices Hub continues to serve as a valuable resource for promoting cross-border collaboration and effective political solutions across Europe.

About The Innovation in Politics Awards

Since 2017, The Innovation in Politics Awards have honoured outstanding politicians from across Europe who have led initiatives that deliver tangible impact in their communities. Over the years, we have curated a collection of more than 2,000 best practices, representing a wide range of innovative projects.
Our Best Practices Hub offers decision-makers a resource to draw inspiration from proven solutions which they can adapt to their own local contexts, while promoting cross-border knowledge transfer. With the help of our citizen jury comprising over 1,000 European citizens annually we continue to highlight and celebrate projects that address today’s challenges and serve as models of effective solutions.
